Change
We have started to change
Change is a wonderful thing
We must keep moving forward
Keep changing
Never stop, never give up
Hold fast for this is only the beginning.
The days passed us by quickly. Soon turning into weeks then months, and as the time passed, we grew. Our lives changed, some of it was for the better, and some things were just changes.
At first, we grew closer to one another, we did everything together, but then we started to grow apart. Well, that’s what she said this morning before I left for work. So here I am now, thinking back over the past six months of my life, well our lives. “Does she not understand that I have to work, I can’t always be home with her… and it’s not like she is home alone any way she has her friends over all the time and she goes out to.” I said to Kellie as she sat across from me reading an article I had written the night before. “Well maybe she just wants you home a little more, or she wants you to pay more attention to her when you are home, instead of doing things for work.” Replied Kellie without once looking up from the paper in her hand.
I thought for a while then responded when she looked up from the paper in front of her. “Well I do pay attention to her, I give her all the time she wants when I’m home. But she acts like I’m not going to work and just leaving the house so that I can get away from her. I don’t know what to do, or say to her to make things better anymore.” Kellie looked at me, then slightly back down at the paper, I could tell she knew something I didn’t.
“What aren’t you telling me Kellie and don’t try to lie to me, you know I can tell when you’re lying so just tell me.” I said, as I looked her in the eyes. “Oh fine fine, I’ll tell you, but you can’t let her know that I told you okay.” I just nodded as she continued to talk. “Well remember the first day me and her went out, well I kinda sorta gave her the passkey to your calendar. The one I use to know where you are all the time and make sure you get your work done.” She said while avoiding looking me in the eyes.
“You do know the passkey for that unlocks all my accounts also don’t you, and you do realize that a lot of my accounts are linked into yours?” She looked back at me with an annoyed look of guilt. “Yes, I know that. I was the one that got you to set it up that way. I only gave it to her so she would know you were at work and not just out doing something else.” She responded to me still looking down, I sighed and continued to talk. “That explains why she doesn’t like you so much now. I always thought it was because you knew me better than she does, but now I know it’s because of how much time we spend together. I know you never used it, but there is a meeting function that records any two people in a room as being in a meeting. It also has a total button that totals the amount of time I spend in meetings with each person over the month. I set it up so I would remember to make time for all of my clients, and bill the ones that took up more time than necessary. But if she found it and used it on you then she would realize that I spend all the time at work with you, now do you see how that was a bad idea?” I said to her with a hint of the distress in my voice.
Kellie looked at me realizing what would most likely be going through Crystal’s mind, then she got up. “Well that might be a problem, you’re going to have to find a way to make her feel better about things. And you better do it soon because I have a feeling it will be affecting the company too.” She said as she headed for the door and looked at me to follow.
We had a list of meetings set up for that day that seems to have no end, not only that but they started so close to each other that I would have no time to do anything else but run from one meeting room to the next all day. Which meant this would be another day that the calendar would show me and Kellie spending the entire day together in a meeting.
At the end of the day I was exhausted, I felt as if I had been running around the entire day nonstop. I didn’t even have time to take a break for a snack. As the final meeting finished, I darted out of the door straight for my car. I headed straight home hoping there wouldn’t be too much traffic that day.
I got home that afternoon, and as I walked in I saw Crystal sitting at the dining table, I walked into the door, and she looked at me. “So how was your big day of meetings, must have been pretty busy not to have any time to call me right.” She said as she watched me closely as if she was looking for something on my clothes. “Babe I know you know I was in meetings all day, Kellie told me about giving you the passkey so I know that you could see who I was in meetings with all day.” I replied as calmly and as nicely as I could.
“So I guess you’re going to try and say I’m spying on you now right, well I wouldn’t have to if it wasn’t for her. You know I see how she is always with you and never has a boyfriend, I know what she’s doing.” I sighed as I took my shoes off and sat in the couch across from her, this was just what I was afraid would happen. “What! You have nothing to say now, is that it, maybe you like the attention from her.” She yelled as I pulled my other shoe off. My head was hurting now, I began to stand to my feet as I talked. “Babe its, its um its…” My words were cut short as the pain shot through my head like a bolt of lightning, then everything was just darkness.
